A plane passenger was arrested on a charge of destruction of aircraft after allegedly pulling down his pants on urinating on the floor in front of other people, police in North Carolina said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested 28-year-old Jordan Gardner of Ludlow, Kentucky, after causing a disturbance on an American Airlines flight from San Francisco, California, to Charlotte.
Gardner was charged with destruction of aircraft. He was booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail. According to the police, the passenger sitting next to Gardner, called a flight attendant, who saw Gardner pulling up his pants.
The flight attendant then sent him to the bathroom.
After Gardner failed to come out of the bathroom for 15 minutes, the flight attendant opened the door and found him lying on the floor.
The flight attendant tried to clean the urine with water, but it still smelled when the plane landed at the airport. Gardner told police that he had alcoholic drinks before leaving San Francisco.
Police said that they could still smell the alcohol on his breath 11 hours after the flight took off from San Francisco. Gardner blamed chewing gum for the alcohol smell.
