Two-year-old boy finds gun in back seat of car before fatally shooting his mother who was driving on highway

(Scroll down for video) A young woman has died of a gunshot wound after her 2-year-old son found a weapon in the back seat of her car while driving on a highway, police in Wisconsin said.

26-year-old Patrice Price of Milwaukee, was driving on Highway 175 on Tuesday, where she was shot and killed.

Price’s 1-year-old son was also in the car at the time of the shooting.

Witnesses who were at the scene of the shooting told investigators that the two-year-old boy got hold of the gun when it slipped through the driver’s seat to the back of the vehicle.

He pulled the trigger and shot his mother once. The one-year-old child was in the front seat, and both children were not secured in car seats.

Police found a gun belt belonging to Price’ boyfriend on the floor of the passenger seat. The gun was found on the floor of the back seat behind the driver's seat.

Price was pronounced dead at the scene.
