(Scroll down for video) A nail salon in California, was slapped with a lawsuit after a woman lost her toe to an infection that she allegedly got following a pedicure, according to court documents.
Dynasy Nails of Santa Clarita, is being accused of causing an infection in the foot of Sonia Algara, who suffers from diabetes.
According to the complaint filed by Algara, an employee used scissors to cut in between her fourth and fifth toes of the left foot.
The incision caused pain and an infection. After a week, the fifth toe had to be amputated. Algara told the court that after the pedicure, she went to the hospital, where she was told that she got an infection.
A week later, doctors had no choice but to remove the toe.
Algara claims that the disfigurement has affected her balance, the ability to use certain shoes and is unable to climb stairs.
She is seeking unspecified damages for medical expenses, mental anguish and emotional distress.
