A suicidal man wrapped himself with firecrackers and blew himself up on a hiking trail, but miraculously survived, police in New York said.
According to the New York Police Department, 36-year-old Kenneth Doran of Staten Island, wanted to end his life on Wednesday.
Luckily, 41-year-old Yasia Sorbo found him lying on the ground on moaning in pain.
She immediately called for help, and Doran was rushed to the Staten Island University Hospital, where he is said to be in critical condition.
Sorbo told investigators that she was running the hiking trail around noon, when she noticed the victim lying on the ground near Tennyson Drive.
His face was black, and he was bleeding.
Police found commercial grade firecrackers in the victim's pocket as well as a mortar in the woods near the location that he was found.
According to the police, this was the sixth time that Doran tried to end his life.
