Woman arrested for drunk driving after stopping to argue with officer for arresting her brother for same offense

A woman was arrested after stopping to argue with officers who arrested her brother.

41-year-old Ercilia Moncada and her brother Josue Moncada, 31, were arrested by Florida Highway Patrol officers and were charged with DUI.

Officers said that they received an alert to be on the lookout for a reckless driver southbound on Interstate 75. Police officers discovered the vehicle, and were able to pull over the driver.

While talking to the driver Josue Moncada, the officers realized that he was drunk. He was arrested on a charge of DUI at 2:55 a.m.

Minutes later, Ercilia Moncada drive up to the officers and began arguing with them as to why they were arresting her brother.

When officers determined that Ercilia Moncada was drunk, she was also arrested for DUI. She was arrested at 3:18 a.m., and was placed in another police cruiser.

When the first officer left to take the man to Marion County Jail, Ercilia Moncada, who was in handcuffs, managed to escape, but was later caught.
