Lesbian woman accused Con Ed of pulling job offer because she posted picture of naked woman on Instagram
A woman filed a lawsuit against the Consolidated Edison energy company of New York, after they allegedly pulled a job offer because she posted a nude photo of a woman on Instagram.
26-year-old Samantha Chirichella of Long Island, claims that Con Ed offered her a job with a $70,000 a year salary before learning that she was a lesbian.
Con Ed claims that she was fired after finding a pornographic photo of a woman on her Instagram account.
Chirichella claims in her lawsuit filed in Manhattan civil court that she accepted the $70,000 a year job as an investigator in the legal department.
Chirichella passed a background check and had excellent references from previous employers.
Chirichella told the court that the photo is no more sexually explicit than recognized pieces of fine artwork of Da Vinci, Titian, or Michelangelo, and less explicit than the photos published in Sports Illustrated.
Chirichella believes that what bothered Con Ed was the comments below the image, in which she revealed that she is a lesbian.
She is demanding unspecified damages.
