A man was arrested on a charge of criminal damage after allegedly toppling a 126-year-old statue of a 16th century king, police in Portugal said.
Lisbon police arrested the man, who was not identified, after trying to take a selfie with the statue of King Dom Sebastiao, causing it to fall and break into pieces.
He was charged with one count of criminal damage.
According to the police investigation, the suspect was at the Rossio Railway Station around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, when he decided to climb onto the pedestal of the statue in order to take a selfie.
