A teenager died in a horrific act of violence with the permission of her family.

Police in Pakistan, arrested 15 members of a tribal council who were accused of ordering the death of the woman by burning her alive.

The 16-year-old girl was burned in an honor killing in Donga Gali, near Islamabad, after she was accused of helping a neighbor elope with her lover.

Police said that the honor killing was ordered as punishment for what the council considered “irreparable damage to the reputation of the town.”

Since the couple managed to escape, the anger was geared toward the 16 year old.

Police chief Saeed Wazir said that the mother and brother of the girl were also arrested as they were present during the meeting and agreed with the cruel punishment.

The girl received an injection with some drugs before she was placed inside the van in which the couple had escaped. Her hands were tied to the seats before the van was doused with gasoline and set on fire, burning the girl alive, Wazir said.
