(Scroll down for video) A husband allows his wife to put nail polish on his pinky finger as a gesture of love to her.

Matt Sanders of Jasper, Indiana, showed unconditional love to his wife after she lost her finger in a freak accident.

Matt’s wife Libby, was closing a sliding door when her pinky accidentally got jammed in the door.

The injury to her finger was so severe that doctors were forced to amputate half of it.

While Libby made peace with the situation, her husband realized that every time she polished her nails, she became sad that she was unable to do her pinky.

The loving husband said: “paint my pinky, I'll be your surrogate.” Since then, the couple who work together at an ice cream store that they own, do their fingernails together.

Libby gets to pick the color and after painting her nails, she paints Matt’s pinky with the same color.

The couple said that they have been best friends since they met six years ago on a blind date. Just four months following the date, the two got married.

Matt said that it will take time to get used to being his wife’s surrogate, but every time he looks at his finger, he is reminded of the woman he loves.
