Parents find dead baby in bed of 17-year-old daughter who did not know she was pregnant or gave birth

(Scroll down for video) Parents were shocked to find a dead baby while preparing their daughter’s bed in the evening, according to police in California.

Chula Vista police said that the baby was found on Monday, and it appeared that the baby was carried full term.

Officers were called to the parents’ house on Main Street around 8:00 p.m. in San Diego County. Someone in the house called 911 to report that the child was not breathing.

Investigators determined that the parents of the 17-year-old girl found the child dead in bed anywhere from 24 to 36 hours after birth.

The baby weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces, and appeared to have been carried to term.

While interviewing the 17-year-old girl, she said that she was unaware that she was pregnant and unknowingly gave birth while in bed.

The cause of the baby's death is unknown. So far, no arrests have been made.

“Chula Vista Police received a 911 call from a residence in the 4000 block of Main Street. Firefighters were immediately dispatched on an apparent report of a non-breathing child.

“Chula Vista Police were called to the scene about 20 minutes later, when Fire personnel found a new-born deceased male child in a bed. The child appeared to be have been born hours or days prior to the discovery.

“Crimes of Violence Investigators were called to the scene and determined that a 17-year-old female gave birth to the child approximately 24 to 36 hours earlier.

“The juvenile mother claimed to be unaware that she was pregnant and unknowingly gave birth to the child while in bed. Some time later, the parents of the 17-year-old found the deceased child while making the bed and called 911,” the police department wrote on Facebook.
