(Scroll down for video) A man is being called a hero by his daughters, his mother and many people who watched his brave actions.

Santiago Portillo of California, was at work in a mattress store on Tuesday, when he heard a loud bang. He went to his window to investigate.

He spotted an overturned car that was burning outside his store on Riverside.

Portillo took out his cellphone to record the crash before he suddenly realized that there was a man inside the car. Portillo said that he spotted the man’s arm sticking out of the window.

He ran over to the car, and pulled the badly injured driver out. “There was fire going through the vents,” Portillo said.

Another man then came to help Portillo move the driver further away from the car as it was engulfed in flames.

Portillo said that when he came home and showed the video to his daughter, she said that he was a hero. One of his daughters made a sign calling her father a hero and she placed it in front of his place of business.

Police are now looking for a second car, which was street racing with the crashed car that burned.
