Man throws Molotov cocktail at police car so he can go to jail

A man got his wish of going to jail after setting fire to a police car.

The man of New Jersey, is behind bars after he threw a Molotov cocktail at a police vehicle in Gloucester City, authorities said.

Police said that they arrested 28-year-old Jose E. Rodriguez of South Street Sussex, after setting the police SUV on fire around 8:15 p.m. on Saturday.

Police said that the car was in the parking lot of the police headquarters when Rodriguez lit the Molotov cocktail and threw it at a marked squad car.

Official extinguished the fire, which caused minor damage to the Ford Explorer.

Police arrested Rodriguez, who was still standing in the parking lot when they arrived.

When officers asked Rodriguez why he set the vehicle on fire, he told them that he did it because he wanted to go to jail, police said.

Rodriguez was charged him with aggravated arson, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and criminal mischief. He was booked into the Camden County Jail, and bail was set at $100,000.
