Flight attendants were shocked to find their colleague with slit wrists in the toilet of an airplane en route to the United Kingdom.

The British Airways plane landed in Iceland, after the flight attendant attempted to commit suicide.

The incident unfolded on flight BA 282 from Los Angeles, California, to London. Staff members made the grisly discovery before alerting the pilot.

He was found lying on the toilet seat. Passengers who noticed that the toilet had been locked for a long time, alerted the flight attendants.

The plane was full of Hollywood executives who went to the Cannes Film Festival.

The aircraft took off 20 minutes late from California around 4:00 p.m. on Monday, and was due to land at London Heathrow at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

However, the plane was forced to make a sharp turn to the north around 7:00 p.m., after the dramatic suicide attempt. The Airbus A388 landed in Reykjavik around 7:45 a.m.

The British Airways flight attendant was immediately taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released. The plane then departed Reykjavik, and landed in London around 1:30 p.m.
