(Scroll down for video) People who were watching the weather report on KTLA, which is based in Los Angeles, California, were shocked to see a news anchor interrupting the weather girl and handing her a sweater.

The incident unfolded as Meteorologist Liberte Chan was reporting the weather wearing a sleek black dress on Saturday around 8:20 a.m.

The station immediately received numerous emails, claiming that Chan was not dressed appropriately for a morning weather report.

As a result of the complaints, news anchor Chris Burrous interrupted her forecast and handed Chan a grey sweater. At first, Chan was confused, asking if he wanted that she should put on the sweater.

After putting it on, Chan looked at herself and said that she now looks like a librarian instead of a weather girl. Burrous was criticized for publicly shaming Chan and not standing behind her choice of clothing.

Burrous said that he was just joking around with Chan when he gave her the sweater. Later, the news anchor read some of the emails that viewers have sent to the station.

Some viewers called Chan’s clothes totally inadequate, and said that it showed poor judgment. One viewer said that it seemed like Chan forgot to change her clothes following a night out of drinking at clubs.
