Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police said that the 23-year-old woman took a wrong turn and drove onto a boat ramp on Thursday night.

She then drove straight into the Georgian Bay. It was dark and stormy, and visibility was low. The woman’s red Toyota Yaris quickly sunk below the surface.

Luckily, she was able to roll down the window before the car’s power went off. She wiggled out of the car and swam to shore.

Police said the water temperature was below 40 degrees, and the woman had to swim about 100 feet to reach shore. She then walked to a hotel to ask for help since she left her cellphone in the car.

The woman’s car was pulled out of the lake, but it could not be repaired. The woman did not suffer any injuries.
