(Scroll down for video) Workers at a daycare were delighted to learn that a dog loves their place so much that it ran away from home to get there.

The dog’s owner of North Carolina, decided to keep the Golden Retriever home from daycare for the day, but five-year-old Riley had other plans.

Its owner, Tonia Mosteller, said that while she took Riley for a drive, they passed the dog day care and the dog wanted to get out to join its friends.

Mosteller said that after arriving home, she left Riley alone in the backyard. Riley managed to open the gate and escaped. The dog walked more than a mile to the Happy Dog Cafe Daycare.

Riley waited patiently outside the door until someone came and told the owner of the day care that Riley was waiting outside.

Riley then ran straight back to the nursery room to play with its friends. Since the adventure, Mosteller put an extra lock on the door and promised to take Riley to day care a little more often.

The day care owner, Teresa McCarter, said that she allowed Riley to stay for the rest of the day free of charge.
