Two girls were arrested on a charge of murder after allegedly choking their friend to death during an argument and then pretending she just passed out from drinking too much alcohol, according to police in Russia.

Buryatia police said that they have arrested 14-year-old Kristina B. and 15-year-old Valeria K, after being accused killing 16-year-old Sofya Potapova.

According to the police investigation, the three girls met in the morning for drinks. They then went to visit a male friend, but he was not at home, and they continued drinking in the courtyard of his apartment. The girls got drunk and started arguing. Eventually, the two suspects pushed the victim to the floor and began beating her.

They tortured and beat her for many hours until they choked her to death. They then ordered a taxi and put the dead girl into the vehicle, pretending that she was still alive.

They lied to the driver, telling him they their friend lost consciousness due to alcohol consumption. They told him to drive to the river so they can get fresh air.

The driver did not notice anything strange, and dropped the girls at the Selenga River. The girls spent a lot of time sitting on the river bank and propped up their dead friend every time someone passed.

At the end of the day, they dumped the dead body into the river and left.
