75-year-old woman manages to pickpocket 20 women and steal their belongings while asking for directions

(Scroll down for video) An elderly woman was arrested on a charge of theft after allegedly pickpocketing at least 20 women and stealing their belongings, according to police in Japan.

Tokyo police said that they have arrested 75-year-0old Tamako Sagai, after being accused of stealing items from women and then selling them for money.

She was charged with theft.

On Monday night, Sagai pulled out a pad and other items from the bag of an 83-year-old woman, who was not identified, after asking for directions at the JR Kichijoji station.

When Sagai was questioned by police, she admitted to stealing from the woman, saying that she needs money. She also admitted to stealing from many women in the past.

Since the beginning of the year, Sagai is believed to have been behind at least 20 robberies. According to investigators, Sagai approached elderly women in public, and asked them for directions.

During the conversations, she pickpocketed valuable items from her victims. She was finally caught after a police officer caught her red-handed lifting items from a woman’s pocket.
