Man spends vacation in jail for shooting his hotel room door after locking himself out

A man spend part of his vacation in jail for shooting his hotel room door.

A tourist spent part of his Florida vacation in the Pinellas County Jail, after he used a gun to shoot the lock on the door of his hotel room.

35-year-old Charles William Richardson, 35, of Dunbar, West Virginia, was arrested on Thursday morning, after officers responded to reports of a man shooting a gun at the Beachcomber Hotel in St. Pete Beach at 8:00 a.m.

Richardson, who was a guest at the hotel, used a gun to shoot the lock on the door of his hotel room after he had locked himself out of his room. Richardson proceeded to shoot a glass window in the hotel for no apparent reason.

No one was injured in the hotel as a result of the shooting. Deputies recovered the gun near Richardson’s hotel room.

Richardson was arrested on two counts of firing a deadly missile into an occupied building. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
