A mother was arrested on a charge of murder after putting her newborn baby in a freezer and leaving him there to die, according to police in France.

Now, 32-year-old Nathalie De Mey of Carcassonne, has been sentenced to serve seven years in prison after being convicted of murder in connection with the death of her newborn baby boy.

According to the police investigation, De Mey, who is the mother of two girls, had been addicted to drinking alcohol.

When she realized that she was pregnant, she tried to get help, but she continued with her drinking. After carrying the child to term, she gave birth to the child on a toilet.

When the baby came out, she cut the cord with scissors. Hours later, she wrapped the baby in a blanket and placed him in the freezer.

The dead baby was discovered by the father three months later.

De Mey said that she was under stress because she was afraid to tell her husband that the child was not his.
