(Scroll down for video) It was a bad night for a woman who crashed her car before falling off a cliff.
Police in New York, said that they were called to the scene of an accident when a passerby spotted a car crashing into a guardrail.
When the Albany County Sheriff's deputies arrived to the single car crash, they did not find anyone inside.
However, they soon received a call from a homeowner, saying that a woman came to his door. The man told police the woman was irrational and smelled of alcohol.
The woman, who was identified as 38-year-old Erika Barkman of Voorheesville, told the homeowner that police were chasing her.
The woman did not stay at the home. Instead, she took off running. Sadly, while running into the woods, the woman fell 60 feet down a cliff.
It took firefighters about two hours to get to the woman and bring her to safety. Barkman was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition.
Police released photos, showing empty bottles of vodka in Barkman’s car. Police believe that Barkman, who has previously been arrested for alcohol related charges, was drunk at the time of the crash.
When she recovers, Barkman faces charges of DWI, police said.
