A thief was arrested on a charge of assault after allegedly driving a car over his wife while trying to hit a loss prevention officer following a robbery, according to police in Washington.

Redmond police said that they have arrested 49-year-old Ernest Price, after being accused of running over his wife, 49-year-old Cynthia Cornethan.

Price has been charged with second-degree assault and second-degree theft. He was booked into the Maleng Regional Justice Center, and his bail was set at $50,000 bail.

Cornethan has been charged with second-degree theft.

According to the police investigation, Price, Cornethan and another woman entered the Kohl’s store Union Hill Road, to steal items.

The two women stuffed items in shopping bags and wrapped them with silver foil to get through the security system. The women then ran through an emergency exit, and were pursued by the loss prevention officer.

He tried to stop them in the parking lot, but Price sped toward the officer. The officer jumped out of the way and was hit in the leg, but was not seriously injured.

He then ran over his wife.
