(Scroll down for video) A couple was shocked to learn that the boy they brought home from school and fed, is not their grandchild.

65-year-old Joseph Fuller of South Carolina, was asked to pick up his 6-year-old grandson from school early.

He went to the Edisto Primary School in Orangeburg County, where he saw a group of students coming out of gym class.

He spotted a boy who he thought was his grandson, gave him a hug and told the teacher that he was there to take the child home.

The teacher’s assistant later said that she asked the boy if he needed to go home with his grandfather and the child said “yes.”

Fuller then went to the front desk to sign the boy out of school. He was allowed to take the child after it was confirmed that he was on his grandson’s list as a person who can pick him up.

Fuller then took the boy to his vehicle, and placed him in the backseat. The grandmother then handed him a Happy Meal and they drove home.

When Fuller got home, he realized that the boy had a gap in his teeth, which his grandson did not have. Fuller said that the boy has a strong resemblance to his grandson.

The boy was immediately returned to the school and Fuller apologized for his mistake.

The father of the little boy who was taken from the school without consent, demanded that the school should add safety measures in order to prevent such a mistake from happening again.

The school promised to some make changes.
