A drunk priest was arrested on a charge of assault for biting a police officer and a paramedic who came to assist him after he passed out in a nightclub, according to police in the United Kingdom.
Now, 36-year-old Gareth Jones of London, is facing a lifetime ban from being a priest after pleading guilty to two counts of assault by beating.
Jones has a long criminal history, including convictions of communicating a false bomb hoax, affray, possession of cannabis, fraud and criminal damage.
According to the police investigation, Jones had been drinking at the El Vino and The George on Fleet Street, before he passed out.
Paramedic Ian Pollock arrived at the scene around 2:30 a.m., and he gently shook Jones to check whether he was fine. He woke up and yelled profanities.
Jones threatened to attack Pollock, but could not stand up because of his drunken state. He drank three bottles of wine, several cups of beer and a lot of vodka.
The father of one then lashed out and kicked Pollock twice in the leg. Two police officers who were nearby came to see what was happening.
They saw Jones attacking the paramedic, punching him in the chest and then biting into his arms.
Jones then kicked Officer Andrew Fletcher on his left cheek before saying that he had diplomatic immunity from the Vatican, in a desperate attempt to avoid arrest.
