(Scroll down for video) People are angry after the father of a convicted rapist told a court in California, that his son is paying a steep price for 20 minutes of action with an unconscious woman.

The father complained despite the fact that the Santa Clara County judge sentenced 20-year-old Brock Turner of Dayton, Ohio, to just six months in prison for raping the woman.

Judge Aaron Persky said that he decided to be extremely lenient because of his clean criminal record and the effect the conviction will have on his life.

In addition to prison, Turner must register for life as a sex offender after a jury convicted him of three counts of sexual assault and attempted rape.

Turner, who was a Stanford University swimmer, had faced a sentence of up to 10 years in prison. Turner is appealing his conviction.

Turner's father had asked the judge to sentence his son to just probation, saying he had paid a high price for just 20 minutes of action.

Dan Turner said the life of his son had been profoundly altered forever as he will never be happy go lucky.
