A woman was arrested on a charge of battery after allegedly pouring nail polish remover into her stepdaughter’s bottle in an attempt to kill her, according to police in Illinois.
DuPage County police said that they have arrested 36-year-old Andrea Vazquez-Hernandez, after the father of the 1-year-girl realized that she spiked the child’s milk bottle.
Vazquez-Hernandez was charged with one count of aggravated battery and one count of domestic battery. She was booked into jail, and her bail was set at $250,000.
The father of the victim told investigators that when he tried to give his daughter milk in a bottle, she immediately spit it out.
The father told police that he immediately took his daughter to the hospital, but all tests came back normal.
Investigators determined that at some point in the day, Vazquez-Hernandez added a bottle of nail polish remover to her stepdaughter’s bottle in order to kill her.
