(Scroll down for video) A woman was arrested on a charge of murder after allegedly killing her fiance during a boating trip, according to police in New York.

The New York State Police said that they have arrested 35-year-old Angelika Graswald of Poughkeepsie, after being accused of removing the plug of her fiance’s boat, causing it to capsize.

As a result, 46-year-old Vincent Viafore drowned in the Hudson River. Graswald has been charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter.

According to the police investigation, Graswald manipulated the kayak and paddles so that Viafore’s boat capsized. She did nothing to help once he was in the water.

Viafore and Graswald were kayaking on the Hudson River, back to the coast of New Windsor, after an afternoon on the island of Bannerman.

A police officer told the court that during questioning, Graswald did not seem to care that her fiance disappeared in the water.

Investigators believe that Graswald killed her fiance to get her hands on $250,000 in life insurance.
