A man was arrested for trying to take away a chair from a woman.

67-year-old Bruce Raymond Benard of Florida, was angry when a woman sat down on a chair that he had been saving for a family member.

The woman told police she was in the town square and saw some empty chairs. When she sat down, Benard confronted her, saying that the chairs were reserved for friends and family.

He then threatened to throw her off of the chair if she did not move, the report said.

The woman said that she told Benard she would move in a few minutes, and that was when the attack began, according to the report.

Benard pulled the woman “very hard” and he stomped twice on her left foot in an attempt to get her out of the chair, according to the Lady Lake Police Department.

According to police, Benard blamed the woman saying: “she should have moved and I have a right to stand up for myself and stand my ground.” He then admitted to grabbing the woman, police said.

Two witnesses confirmed the woman's version of events.

Benard was booked into the Lake County Jail. He was released after paying $1,000 bond.
