(Scroll down for video) A boy who was obsessed with taking perfect selfies, died after shooting himself in the chest with a gun while trying to take a selfie, according to police in Missouri.
Overland police said that the older brothers of 15-year-old DaMontez Jones, said that the boy shot himself in the chest while trying to take the perfect gun selfie on Friday.
Investigators have determined the shooting was accidental.
So far, no charges have been filed, but police said that the gun owner could face a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
The two older brothers of the dead boy, who are 16 and 17 years old, told investigators that they were in another room when the gun went off.
The shooting occurred about 5:30 p.m., in the boy’s home located on the 9500 block of Page Avenue. No adults were at the home when the shooting occurred.
DaMontez was rushed to a hospital, where he died. DaMontez found the gun in the house he shares with his mother and her fiance.
The gun belonged to the finance, who works as a security guard. The gun was kept in a closet, and was not locked in a safe.
Over the past 17 months, DaMontez posted almost 30 selfies on his social media accounts.
