A man was arrested on a charge of animal cruelty after allegedly kicking his wife’s dog to death because it barked too much, according to police in Japan.

Saitama police said that they have arrested 47-year-old Toshiyuki Watanabe, after being accused of kicking his wife’s 3-year-old dog and throwing its cage until the animal died.

Watanabe was charged with one count of animal cruelty.

According to the police, Watanabe kicked the dog in his home around 8:00 a.m. on Friday, because it barked too much. His wife reported the incident to the police after she found her dog dead on Monday morning.

During questioning, Watanabe told police that he kicked the dog twice, and threw its cage to the ground because he lost his temper.
