A man was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct after allegedly getting drunk on a plane and threatening to kill his girlfriend, according to police in Greece.
The incident unfolded on EasyJet flight EZY1977 that flew from Manchester, England, to Corfu on Tuesday.
A witness told police that the 24-year-old passenger of Liverpool, who was not identified, drank an entire large bottle of vodka. The pilot explained to all passengers why their flight was delayed.
The suspect threatened the cabin crew, pilot and passengers.
He then threatened to kill his girlfriend and children who were sitting next to him. The flight was delayed for more than two hours, while the pilot gave statements to the police.
EasyJet said that while such incidents are rare, they take disruptive passengers very seriously, and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behavior on board.
The safety and welfare of the passengers and crew are always the priority of EasyJet, the company said. The company revealed that it will pursue criminal charges against the passenger.
