56-year-old Donald Middleton of Houston, Texas, who was convicted of drunken driving nine times since 1980, has been sentenced to life in prison.

The prosecutor said that he worked very hard to get Middleton behind bars forever as he is a danger to “our friends, family and our kids.”

The Montgomery County judge who sentenced Middleton to life in prison, said that he is a habitual offender.

Middleton pleaded guilty to drunk driving in a traffic accident during which he hit a 16-year-old driver head on. The boy is the son of Montgomery County Precinct Four Constable Rowdy Haden.

Middleton was arrested after fleeing on foot from the wreckage. He ran into a store and asked employees not to turn him in to police while he was waiting for a friend to come get him.

The teenager was hospitalized, and he recovered from his injuries.

Prosecutors say that Middleton has already served four prison sentences for alcohol-related convictions. Interesting enough, the driver’s license of Middleton was never suspended up until now.

Constable Rowdy Haden said that Middleton proved that he cannot be rehabilitated so he needs to spend the rest of his life behind bars.
