(Scroll down for video) A mother was killed by police after she opened fire and killed her two daughters, police in Texas said.

Taylor Sheats, 22, and Madison Sheats, 17, were shot and killed by their mother, 42-year-old Christy Sheats, outside their home on Remson Hollow Lane in Houston.

The father of the victims, who was not injured, was taken to the hospital as he was very emotionally distraught over the death of his beloved daughters on the day of his birthday.

Fort Bend County Sheriff's deputies said that officers were called to the home for a domestic dispute. When police arrived, the mother was allegedly pointing a gun at them.

After she did not follow their orders to drop the gun, an officer shot and killed her.
Sadly, it was too late to save the daughters. One daughter died at the scene while the other was flown to a hospital, but doctors were unable to save her.

Witnesses saw Jason, Taylor, and Madison, running out of the home. The daughters had been shot inside the home, and their mother followed them outside and continued shooting at them.

According to Christy Sheats’ Facebook page, she was a gun owner and vocal advocate for the second amendment.
