Brisbane police said that they have arrested 25-year-old Morgan Alexander Isles-English, after being accused of attacking his father, 53-year-old Mark English.

Isles-English was charged with one count of causing death. A judge has ordered the suspect to undergo a mental health evaluation before a bail hearing.

According to the police investigation, English was walking down Ann Street, with his wife, Varri Telfer, around 4:00 p.m. on Monday, when he saw his son for the first time in four years.

The son had a brief verbal exchange with the couple before punching his father in the mouth. English fell back and hit his head on the cement floor.

Telfer and bystanders administered first aid until paramedics arrived. The son left the scene and returned before fleeing again.

He was later arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm.

Telfer told police that Isles-English had not seen his father for four years. English was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.

He was placed in an induced coma before having surgery overnight. Unfortunately, English died in the following morning of bleeding.

As a result of his father's death, the charge for Isles-English has been upgraded to causing death.
