(Scroll down for video) Police are looking to arrest a man on a charge of murder after allegedly killing his sister because she posted sexy photos on her social media accounts, police in Pakistan said.
Multan police said that 25-year-old Fauzia Azeem, who was also known as Qandeel Baloch, was strangled by her brother, Wasim Azeem.
Their father, Ahmad Azeem, filed a complaint with the police after finding Qandeel unresponsive. Ahmad told investigators that his son wanted Qandeel to quit promoting herself on social media, but she refused.
To protect the family’s honor, Wasim decided to murder Qandeel.
Qandeel became famous several years ago, after being the first woman in the country to post photos showing her kissing the cameras.
She asked social media users if her lips looked cute. Qandeel sparked controversy last month, after posing for photos with a cleric.
She and the cleric were later condemned by the ministry of religious affairs.
Earlier this year, she vowed to perform a striptease on camera if Pakistan beat India in the World T20 games, but her country lost.
In his last interview, she spoke about her forced marriage to an uneducated man. She later divorced. Qandeel left behind one child.
Qandeel recently contemplated leaving the country, as her petition for protection had been ignored.
