(Scroll down for video) A teenager went to a river to have good time, but sadly, things ended in tragedy.
19-year-old Preston Johnston of North Carolina, agreed to take 12-year-old twin boys along with him to the river.
While in the water, the twins went towards rocks, but they fell and began drowning.
True to his word, Johnston, who promised to take care of the boys, jumped into the water and saved the boys. Once they were brought to safety, he was pulled into the water and he never resurfaced.
The twins ran to get help. A good Samaritan looked for the teen, but was unable to find him. It took rescue workers many hours to locate Johnston’s body.
The Johnston family is mourning the loss of their beloved son, whom they and many others called a hero.
Johnston’s mother said that she is sure that if her son would have to redo everything knowing the outcome, he would have done the exact same thing.
Johnston’s father said that it is difficult for the boys as they now have to live with the fact that his son lost his life while saving their lives.
