A group of tourists who waited in line to buy cronuts in Manhattan, ignored a dead man lying on a nearby bench in order not to miss a chance at getting their favorite treats, according to police in New York.

The New York Police Department said that the incident unfolded outside the Dominique Ansel Bakery, which is located at 189 Spring Street, on Friday.

When paramedics responded to the scene, the tourists did not move in order not lose their place in the line. Police said that the death does not seem to be suspicious.

The man was dead on the bench for quite some time until someone noticed and called for help.

Tourists and residents are divided in their opinions about staying in line to buy cronuts despite the presence of a dead body.

Residents slammed the tourists, saying that ignoring a dead man for a cronut is over the top, but tourists claimed that after hearing so much about cronuts, they could not give up their chance to get a hold on them for a bite.

About thirty people were waiting in line to buy cronuts.

Molly Young said that she saw police relocating the line of people waiting for cronuts so they could remove the dead body from the bench.
