St. Petersburg police said that 41-year-old Misty Childs, tried to kill her sleeping boyfriend, Lavont Moss, following an argument.
The incident occurred around 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, at 1123 13th Avenue S. According to the police investigation, following the argument, Moss went to bed.
It was then that Childs poured hot soup on the face and upper torso of her boyfriend, and left the area. Moss’ two roommates, Ashleigh Ferris and Wesley Clark, said that the victim is fighting for his life.
They told investigators that the assault occurred while they were smoking outside of the home. They heard screams from inside the house, and rushed inside to find Moss in pain.
Moss told them that Childs burned him before collapsing on the couch. He was barely able to breathe because of the pain.
Clark, who is a paramedic, said that the injuries were some of the worst he has ever seen. Doctors are not sure if Moss will survive as he suffered internal injuries after hot soup entered his nose and throat.
Childs remains at large.
