An elderly man was arrested on a charge of battery after allegedly stabbing his wife because she told him to stop throwing pieces of fruit on the floor, according to police in Florida.
West Palm Beach police said that they have arrested 84-year-old Uriel Bradshaw, after being accused of stabbing his 65-year-old wife, who was not identified, during an argument.
Bradshaw was charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail, and his bail was set at $10,000.
According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded on Saturday night, at the couple’s home located on US 1 and Flagler Drive near 42nd Street.
Bradshaw was eating mangoes in one of the rooms in the house when his wife entered. She got angry when he saw Bradshaw leaving parts of the fruit on the ground.
An argument broke out, and Bradshaw lunged at the victim with a knife.
The woman ran through the house and started hitting the walls, trying to alert her daughter who lives next door to call the police.
Police officers who arrived at the scene found the woman suffering from two stab wounds, one on the shoulder and one in the chest.
Police found the knife and blood stains throughout the house.
Bradshaw admitted to police that he had an argument with his wife about mangoes, but claimed that he does not remember stabbing his wife.
