A female lawyer of New York, was arrested for robbing a bank.
The public defender who helps criminals in the Bronx, now needs someone to represent her in court.
46-year-old Meighan McSherry was arrested after being accused of robbing the Wells Fargo Bank at 137 W. Putnam Avenue in Connecticut.
According to neighbors, McSherry, who lives in a posh building in the Upper West Side, fell on hard times in the last year.
According to Greenwich police Lt. Kraig Gray, the lawyer walked into the bank and handed a note to the bank teller, demanding money, and stated that she had a weapon.
She left the scene with money stolen from the bank at around 3:20 p.m.
Police found her driving a car matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle a few blocks from the crime scene. After being positively identified by a bank employee, McSherry was arrested.
She was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny.
McSherry’s attorney, Jennifer Tunnard, said that her client does not remember committing the crime and she does not even know how she ended up in Connecticut.
McSherry remains in jail as she was unable to post her $250,000 bail.
