24 people get very sick after being fed candy laced with drugs at music festival

(Scroll down for video) More than 20 people were rushed to a hospital after falling ill from candy laced with drugs at a musing festival, according to police in Ohio.

Richland County police said that they have arrested 28-year-old Matthew Gross of Ypsilanti, Michigan, after being accused of handing out candy that was laced with the drug called Nerd Ropes.

Gross was charged with drug trafficking and possessing drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Richland County Jail, and his bail was set at $50,000.

According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded at the at the EST Fest Music Festival on Saturday. 24 people have fallen ill, following a drug overdose at the festival.

None lost consciousness, but of them were treated at a hospital. A 28-year-old woman, who was not identified, said that she saw Gross distributing packages and throwing them into the crowd.

She took several pictures of the man, and showed them to the police. Police searched Gross’ bag, and found two of the same packages that were involved in overdoses.

They also found a marijuana smoking device in the bag. Gross told investigators that he picked up the packages from the ground and passed them around.
