(Scroll down for video) The victim of a rape in Colorado, was shocked to learn that a judge allowed her attacker to walk out of court a free man despite being convicted of sexual assault.
The University of Colorado Boulder student was arrested on a charge of sexual assault after being accused of raping the woman while she was under the influence of alcohol.
The court heard that 22-year-old Austin Wilkerson, made repeated sexual advances on the victim, but she refused each time.
As a result, he felt pissed off. Wilkerson was accused of raping the female college student who had too much to drink on St. Patrick's Day.
He told his friends that he would take care of her, but instead, he raped her. Wilkerson claimed that the sex was consensual, but he was convicted of sexually assaulting the woman after a trial.
Wilkerson faced up to 12 years in prison, but the judge sentenced him instead to 20 years of probation. The judge said that he was concerned the young man would not be allowed to leave prison once he completed his sentence.
