A mother of the United Kingdom, was killed in a freak accident in front of her horrified friends.
40-year-old Heidi Chalkley was going out with her friends when they exited through the entrance of an underground car park at the apartment complex.
Chalkley pressed the button to open the automatic garage door of the car park and then she playfully grabbed hold of it with both arms.
Witnesses told police that Chalkley held on to the shutter as an “act of silliness.” Sadly, the mother of one child was quickly pulled into the rolling metal shutter.
Chalkley, who worked as a social worker, was visiting her friend at the Ruth Bagnall Court in Cambridge, when the incident occurred.
Her friends tried to save Chalkley by grabbing her legs to stop her from getting stuck, but it was too late.
“She was going to jump down, but her hands got caught and the shutters pulled her up into the mechanism,” her friend said.
Chalkley died immediately. Her friends said that they were horrified to see Chalkley’s dangling legs from the top of shutters.
