(Scroll down for video) A man who was known for his work ethics and his simple life, shocked his family and friends after his death.

Ronald Read of Brattleboro, Vermont, worked hard as a janitor until he died at 92 years old, and he lived a very simple life.

He had a simple house, he wore simple clothes and he ate simple food. His friends, who had no idea that he was rich, said that Read ate breakfast at the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital cafe everyday.

He ate the same breakfast of an English muffin with peanut butter.

Read told his friend that one day when he wanted to pay for his food, he was informed that a good Samaritan had already paid as the person thought that he might not have the money for his simple breakfast.

However, to the shock of his friends and family, Read left behind millions of dollars when he died.

Read accumulated his $8 million wealth by investing all the money he earned in the stock market.

Read left $1.2 million to the Brooks Memorial Library and $4.8 million to the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital in Vermont.
