A woman in the United Kingdom, announced that she shut down her restaurant after diners saw a large rat falling from the ceiling and landing right next to them as they were eating.
22-year-old Louissa Downham and David West said that they were eating at the Water Palace Chinese restaurant located in Sittingbourne, when the large rat suddenly landed next to them.
The incident unfolded on Saturday evening.
“Guys, whatever you do, do not eat at the Water Palace Chinese restaurant in Sittingbourne. Me and Dave went there last night, we had already eaten two courses and then a rat fell from the ceiling.
“It landed right next to Dave's foot. We just got up and left without paying, and the woman didn't even try to get us to pay. She just said that they had some people in last week to check, but they didn't find anything. It was huge. Made me feel sick,” Downham wrote on Facebook.
52-year-old Aiqin Chen, the owner of the restaurant located on Dover Street, said that she spent more than $13,000 to tear down the roof in order to ensure that this does not happen again.
Chen voluntarily shut down the restaurant the next day as a result of the incident. A spokesperson for the Swale Borough Council, said that they will inspect the restaurant before Chen is allowed to reopen it.
