A man who was moving into a new home, spent his first night in jail when he became upset with the driver of their moving truck.
The man and his family were moving from Dayton, Ohio, to Florida, when they got into an altercation with the driver of the moving truck.
Robert Hugh Sherer, 70, asked a man he met at church to help them with the move, and the man agreed.
However, while the man was driving a Penske moving truck south on Interstate 75 with Sherer’s wife, he got upset that the moving truck was ahead of him.
Sherer was following the truck with his motorcycle, and his son and daughter-in-law were following in a car.
Sherer became angry when the truck driver accelerated and he could not keep up on the motorcycle, police said in the arrest report.
Sherer called his wife and told her and the driver to meet him at the Circle K gas station in Lake Panasoffkee, Florida. There, an argument broke out over the arrangements for the night.
A Circle K employee called 911 after seeing Sherer firing shots at tires of the moving truck.
Sherer faces charges of improperly firing a weapon, improperly exhibiting a firearm and criminal mischief. He was booked in the Sumter County Detention Center, and his bail was set at $13,000.
