(Scroll down for video) A police officer was arrested on a charge of scheme to defraud after allegedly shoplifting items from Walmart while wearing his uniform, according to police in Florida.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office said that they have arrested 46-year-old Dean Korenic, after being accused of shoplifting soap and toothpaste from two Walmart stores located in Coral Springs.
He was booked into jail, and his bail was set at $3,500. If convicted, Korenic faces up to five years in prison. Korenic has since been suspended without pay.
According to the police investigation, Korenic shoplifted at least seven times from Walmart. Korenic was wearing his police uniform while stealing some of the items.
He also drove away from the Walmart parking lot in his police car. Korenic is accused of stealing cologne, lotions, paper towels, razors, detergent, syrup, toothpaste, soap, coffee and eggs.
Korenic took his items to the self checkout counter, where he scanned and paid for some of the items while stealing the rest.
