Police launched an investigation after an elementary school teacher abused his students in the classroom, according to police in Japan.

Iwaki City officials have announced that they have taken action against the 48-year-old teacher, who was accused of force feeding students who forgot to bring things to class.

The teacher will receive a pay cut of 10 percent for the next three months.

According to the police investigation, the teacher put duct tape on students’ mouths because they were talking too much in class.

He also force fed students large meals for forgetting things at home. During questioning, the teacher told police that he felt anxious because his students weren’t doing very well in class.

Some parents said that they are disappointed with the decision to allow the teacher to keep his job despite being incompetent.
