14-year-old boy sets New York City women on fire by using cigarette lighter to ignite their clothes

(Scroll down for video) A boy was arrested on a charge of harassment as a hate crime after allegedly setting women on fire by igniting their clothes, according to police in New York.

The New York Police Department said that they have arrested the 14-year-old boy of Manhattan, who was not identified, after being accused of setting five women on fire.

The boy was charged with attempted assault and aggravated harassment and harassment, all as hate crimes. According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded on Saturday between 8 and 10 p.m.

The first victim, a tourist from Scotland, called police to report that she suddenly felt hot and when she turned around, she realized that her burqa was set on fire.

After news of the attack spread, four more women came forward with complaints about their clothes being set on fire.

All attacks occurred on Fifth Avenue in the vicinity of West 50th Street. Police are looking to arrest four additional suspects in connection with the attacks.
