Popeyes launched an investigation after a woman found a rat head cooked into her fried chicken she bought in New York.

Rosemary Thomas of Manhattan, said that she, her sister, her daughter and niece went to the Popeyes located at 2730 Frederick Douglass Boulevard, where she bought the fried chicken.

As they were eating, the group discovered a piece that looked like the head of a rat. The piece of meat was fried and breaded like the rest of the chicken.

The New York City Department of Health said that they have received a complaint about the Popeyes location, and a health inspector was sent to the location to investigate.

The restaurant enjoys an A rating from the health department.

The company said that it is not unusual to find weird looking pieces of meat in the fried chicken, but most of the time, they turn out to be chicken organs.

“Friends and family. This is a meal from Popeyes in Harlem served to my daughter, my niece and sister. This is clearly a rat and they have the nerve to have a 5 rating by the department of health.

“I've sent this picture to DESK@NY1 and no one has contacted me. People please feel free to share this picture. Think about all the other rats that have been served and the lasting effect this will have on my daughter, niece and sister. The exact address is 2730 Frederick Douglass Boulevard,” Thomas wrote on Facebook.
